About the Artist
I have been working with wood since 1998 and now I'm focusing on unique sculptural pieces using both exotic and local woods.
In the 1970’s through the 80’s, I studied ceramics at the Palos Verdes Art Center in Palos Verdes, California with Leonard Skuro, Steve Portigal, Rich McCall and Sana Crusoe. This apprenticeship formalized my technical and aesthetic knowledge-base of clay art. For the next four years, I continued expanding my understanding of the ceramic art form at Otis Parsons School of Art in Los Angeles under the tutelage of Ralph Bacerra. My ceramic works were exhibited at several gallery shows and many are included in private collections.
Always interested in the beauty and mystique of wood, I expanded upon my mastery of clay art by learning to work with wood and am now focusing solely on this medium. Some of my works begin on the lathe and are finalized by hand to sculptural completion. My wood art pieces have been exhibited at gallery shows and awarded prizes in several juried shows and many of my one of a kind art works are in the hands of private collectors.
